According to New Zealand China News, the price of New Zealand wool rise to a new level in three years on account of increasing demand of Chinese apparel manufacture field.
According to the data of AgriHQ, the price of wool rose by 10% in last week in North Island auction. The price reaches 6.1 NZD per kilogram. This figure is similar to that in January 2012.
The 35 micron net wool price of hybrid sheep is the main wool product that produced by New Zealand. It is suitable for manufacturing blanket. In the auction held in North and South Island of New Zealand, the average price of this sort of wool is 4.85 NZD per kilogram.
In 2015, NZD has declined by 5%. This fact is beneficial for the export of wool. Due to the weaken of expected interest rising and strengthen of expected interest cut, the exchange rate of NZD has touched the bottom line of the past three years.
As a big import country of New Zealand wool, China produces sundry wool products. There are varied woollen sweater, wool scarf, three thread fleece fabrics and other knitted fabrics.
The agricultural analyst Ivan Luketina from AgriHQ declared that, the total auction amount of wool surpassed 25% of the whole auction. The rising volume of business also indicated great demand on current wool market. There will be an auction in North and South Island on this Thursday, 5th March. At that time, 20 thousand package of wool will get involved in deal. We can wait to see if the price may remain the same.
He said that NZD might decrease in the future. This will rise the local auction price of wool. Nevertheless, wool production from next month (April) might be affected because of drought.
New Zealand wool is an export product that ranks 14th. The busy season every year for wool production lasts from December to the beginning of February.
