Needle oil should mix fully with compressed air to form oil spray before entering into cam track. The oil spray spreads out quickly after entering into cam track, forming a level of even oil film and causing lubricative effects.
1.1 Needle oil atomization
Needle oil atomization requires that compressed air should mix with needle oil full and equally. The process is carried out inside fuel tank. Damaged parts, blocking or insufficient gas impacts the mixture between oil and gas, influencing lubricative effects further. Oil and gas separate from each other temporarily due to pressure decay after entering into oil tube. However, oil and gas are forced into oil spray passing through pore on glib. The oil spray covers cam track and surface of needle rapidly and equally after leaving glib, forming a level of oil film, which can reduce friction, lowering vibration, improving service life and performance of needles.
1.2 Checking oil atomization
If the proportion of oil and gas is in harmonious, the needle oil atomization effects fall relatively, having influences on lubrication performance. Due to limited by equipments, conditions and other factors, quantitative determination for oil atomization cannot be carried out. Only qualitative observation is available. Methods: Tear down a glib when machine is on. Lean the glib at distance to surface of machine of hand by 1cm. Observe it for 5 seconds. If there is a level of even oil film on surface of machine of hand, it means that non oil drop appears. The proportion of oil and gas is suitable. If oil drop appears, it means that oil supply is over large or gas supply is over small. If oil film does not appear, it proves that oil supply is over small of gas supply is over large. Then, regulation is necessary.
1.3 Oil supply
Oil supply of knitting machine refers to the oil and gas mixing amount that oil and gas mix equably, realizing the best atomization effects. Oil supply and gas supply must be regulated at the same time instead of regulating oil supply or gas supply solely. Otherwise, it may reduce atomization effects which cannot meet the requirements of lubrication or wear oil needle or cam track. Atomization situation must be checked again after regulating oil supply, ensuring the best lubrication effects.
1.4 Confirming oil supply
Oil supply has closed relationship with revolving speed, modulus, density of yarns, categories of fabrics, materials and cleanliness on knitting machines. In the workshop equipped with air conditions, reasonable oil supply can reduce heat caused by machines operation as much as possible and bright oil needle cannot be caused on the surface of fabrics. So, the surface of machine is general warm instead of hot after having operated for 24 hours. Otherwise, the oil supply is over small. When oil supply is regulated to maximum and the surface is still hot, it proves that the machine is dirty of revolving speed is too fast.
2. Oil needle causing and processing
Oil needle is caused by oil supply when cannot meet the requirements of machine operation.
2.1 Oil needle causing
When oil supply is abnormal or proportion between oil and gas is imbalance, the oil needle comes out. Reasonable oil supply cannot cause oil needle and the machine is always under the best lubricative situation. When oil supply is over large or air supply is over small, oil cannot mix completely with gas. Oil and gas enter into cam track in form of oil spray and oil drop. Redundant oil drop may flow out directly causing wastage. The oil drop may also mix with flying inside cam track, remaining inside cam track for a long time causing oil needle. If oil supply is over small or gas supply is too large, the density of oil spray is relatively small. The oil spray cannot from oil film in time on needles, cylinders and cam track or the oil film cannot meet the requirements of lubrication. Then the temperature on machine rise due to friction intensification. Temperature rising will produce metal powder for oxidation and friction. When powder enters into knitting zone, yellow oil needle or black oil needle is produced.
2.2 Oil needle prevention
If machine has high resistance for lot of modules and hard materials, washing machine and changing cylinder must ensure cylinder and cam clean. Regulate oil supply firstly and empty for 10 minutes so that equal oil film can be formed on cam track or surface of needle in case of machine being stuck and grinding out metal powder for high resistance. Oil needle is caused due to inappropriate proportion between oil and gas or abnormal oil supply. To prevent oil needle, oil supply should be noticed. The machine should have enough oil supply under normal revolving speed. Oil supply should be checked carefully during inspiration.
When oil needle appears on the surface of fabric, the machine should be stopped in time. Tearing down cam box and check lubrication inside cam track. If cam track has yellowed or various oil drops exist inside cam track, needle can be replaced. Or else, waste yarn boot and regulate oil supply, continuing observation.
If machine has a lot of modules or rough yarn counts, empty the machine for 10 minutes. During process, oil and gas supply must be normal or over large. Then regulate the machine in case of machine being stuck due of insufficient oil supply.
