As a special type of stitch, covering chain stitch is widely used for sewing cushion cover. According to the British standard 3870 and ISO 4915:1991, covering chain stitch is classified as class 600, which can be formed by using flat lock sewing machine.
Properties of covering chain stitch:
- Formed from three thread system.
- Cover thread lies on the top surface which can be held by the needle threads and looper threads.
- Can be used for making flat, extensive seams in knitted fabrics.
Usages of covering chain stitch:
- Covering chain stitch can be used as the edge covering of cushions.
